A landmark moment in India’s wine and hospitality industry is on the horizon as the Sommeliers Association of India (SAI) unveils the first-ever internationally recognized 2025 SAI Best Sommelier of India Competition. Scheduled to take place at The LaLit Lawn, Mumbai from 21st to 23rd January 2025, this historic event is poised to elevate the sommelier profession in India while opening doors to global opportunities.
Affiliated with the Association de la Sommellerie Internationale (ASI), the competition will bring together India’s finest wine professionals to compete for the chance to represent the nation at prestigious global contests. The top three winners will earn an all-expenses-paid trip to the ASI Education Bootcamp in Singapore, while the overall champion will represent India at the 2025 ASI Best Sommelier of Asia & Pacific Competition in Malaysia and subsequently compete at the 2026 ASI Best Sommelier of the World Contest in Portugal.
Judged by a panel of world-renowned experts, including ASI Contest Committee members, Masters of Wine, and Master Sommeliers, the event will set a new standard for excellence in wine expertise, education, and service.
The competition is open to SAI members who meet specific professional criteria, including active employment in a wine service role for at least one year, professional qualifications like WSET Level 2 or equivalent, and a commitment to representing India on the global stage.
