Goa, Oct 18, 2024: India is emerging as a top destination for international weddings, thanks to its cultural richness, opulent venues, and growing accessibility. At the Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India’s (FHRAI) annual convention, industry experts discussed the expanding potential of wedding tourism in the country. Mugdha Sinha, Director General of Tourism, emphasized the need to streamline the experience for international couples.

“We must rethink our approach to attract foreign wedding tourism by offering seamless services such as direct flight connectivity, simplified visa processes, and curated itineraries,” said Sinha. She noted that India’s vibrant wedding market is second only to China, with 54% of couples spending over ?10 lakh on weddings and an average guest size of 525 people.

Weddings in India, often grand cultural showcases, present a significant opportunity for the hospitality industry. Sinha suggested promoting honeymoon packages and milestone celebrations to enhance India’s appeal as a wedding destination.

The convention also addressed the importance of adapting to new trends in the hospitality industry. Siddhartha Chaturvedi led a discussion on the increasing demand for luxury wedding venues, urging hotels to capitalize on this booming market.

As India continues to position itself as a global wedding hotspot, the combination of cultural appeal, modern conveniences, and luxury offerings could make it the go-to choice for couples worldwide.
