September 26, 2024: The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality brand, has announced the signing of a new Taj hotel in Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka. This greenfield project aims to position Chikkamagaluru, known for its lush rainforests and coffee estates, as a premier global leisure destination.
Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President of Real Estate & Development at IHCL, emphasized the strategic significance of the project: “Chikkamagaluru\'s natural beauty and easy access from key cities make it an ideal location for a world-class destination. This aligns perfectly with IHCL’s mission to spotlight India’s hidden gems on the global tourism map.”
The new Taj hotel will be set across 25 acres, offering 160 luxurious rooms with panoramic views of the Mullayanagiri Peak. Just a 20-minute drive from the city center, the hotel will feature an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant, a bar, and a poolside bar. Guests will enjoy premium amenities, including two swimming pools, a fitness center, J Wellness Circle spa, a kids\' club, and a library. The hotel will also cater to business and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) travelers with 5,000 square feet of banqueting space.
VP Kiran, Co-founder of Arnaytive Resorts, the project\'s partner, expressed excitement about bringing the Taj brand to Chikkamagaluru: “This market, with its untapped potential, offers a picturesque retreat, enhanced by Taj’s renowned hospitality.”
Known for its coffee plantations, misty hills, and adventure trails, Chikkamagaluru also boasts stunning waterfalls and the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary. With this addition, IHCL now operates 24 hotels in Karnataka, including nine under development.
