Agoda Reveals Top Five Visa-Free Destinations for Indian Travelers in 2024

Digital travel platform Agoda has unveiled the top five visa-free destinations for Indian travelers in 2024, based on accommodation bookings made through its platform. The leading destinations are Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.

Among these, Thailand has taken the top spot, boosted by the country's visa waiver program introduced for Indian tourists in November 2023. This policy led to a significant increase in accommodation searches and bookings, making Thailand a favored choice. Malaysia, which also launched a visa waiver for Indian tourists in December 2023, climbed from eighth place last year to fourth in 2024, reflecting the impact of relaxed visa requirements on travel trends.

Speaking at the Economic Times World Leaders Forum in New Delhi, Agoda CEO Omri Morgenshtern highlighted the effect of such policies. "Removing visa restrictions makes a huge difference to inbound tourism, and we see this across the globe," he stated.

With over 4.5 million holiday properties, 130,000 flight routes, and 300,000 activities available on Agoda’s platform, Indian travelers have plenty of options to explore these visa-free destinations. Krishna Rathi, Senior Country Director of Agoda India, noted that hassle-free travel is increasingly important for Indian tourists seeking convenience and diverse experiences.
