Oct. 24, 2024: The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) and Procure Impact, a groundbreaking B2B marketplace, have reached a major milestone in their Dignity of Work Pledge. Twenty-three hospitality companies have committed over $7.4 million in purchases, creating more than 100,000 hours of paid employment for individuals facing barriers to work, such as people with disabilities, refugees, and veterans.

By sourcing through Procure Impact, which connects businesses with vendors that employ marginalized groups, these hospitality companies are fostering social change. Procure Impact works with over 100 U.S.-based suppliers, offering products ranging from food and beverage to furniture and retail items. One notable supplier, Cameron’s Coffee & Chocolates in Virginia, employs 30 people with disabilities and has expanded its reach to 90 hotels, thanks to demand from the platform.

AHLA’s Responsible Stay initiative, which focuses on sustainability and community impact, is aligned with this pledge. Companies like Atrium Hospitality, Sage Hospitality Group, and Concord Hospitality are among the participants managing over 1,800 hotels nationwide, increasing their responsible sourcing practices.

“This pledge is an incredible example of how the hospitality sector is pioneering new ways to connect, inspire, and elevate purpose,” said Jen Collins, Co-Founder of Procure Impact. The next goal is even more ambitious: creating 1,000,000 hours of work across all industries by 2030.
